Mickey Monster - Vincent Scala

Back in November, the Mickey Monster kickstarter was making the rounds on social media. I loved Vincent Scalas design, but as I have no credit/debit card I was unable to pledge. Instead I took the time to share it obsessively, in the hope that when it reached its goal & got produced, I could buy one. That opportunity recently became a reality & now I have this epic mickey-parody freak for my shelves!

Admittedly the quality of this toy is a little lacking. Mine came loose from it's inner blister during shipping & was floating around in it's packaging. Honestly though, for $40 USD, this thing is amazing! 7 inches tall & 3 points of articulation(which really helps with it's balance... which is a little questionable!). I actually love that the vinyl seams are weirdly placed(bottom of the head, at the top of one leg) & the paintwork isn't as perfect as it could be. It all makes the toy quite unique & a little silly!

Vincent Scala threw in a few goodies for me. All very awesome, but the pin is probably my favourite. It's found a new home on my bag & it's officially the largest pin I own! These stickers are pretty sick though. Makes me feel the need to come up with a solution for my ever-growing collection of stickers!

The concept for this toy is creepy & playful. There are three version of Mickey Monster. The solid black & pink versions are limited to 50 & are $100 USD a piece. If i could afford it I'd totally snag the other two versions!

I absolutely love this toy! So happy to finally have one in my hands & it was totally worth the wait! I'm excited to see what else Vincent Scala will make in the future!

Customs - Bash Projects(Bas Petter)

This is probably the largest order of toys so far in my collecting history! It might seem insane to some, but this purchase took... some time. Almost 4 years in fact. It was totally worth the wait(the blame for the long time period can probably be put on both parties equally :P)!

It all began with a contest. Bash Projects(Bas Petter) had just completed a set of mini 'Lunartik in a Cup of Tea' customs that he called 'The Barrels of Tea'.

Six brave animals who aren't afraid of a little adventure. They traded their Cups of Tea for these wooden barrels and jumped in the river. They are gonna go down the Niagara Falls!

Bas decided to give away of couple of these cuties. He held a contest that required giving an idea for a larger Cup of Tea custom. I was one of two winners. The elephant 'Barrel of Tea' was my cute little prize! I also managed to snag the last 'Barrel of Tea'(the pig) that was available.

My idea for my contest entry was a 'Cute Little Rat'. As Bash started sharing photos of his progress on the custom, it became clear to me that I'd need to buy that rat once it was complete.

Honestly this rat is adorable! Bas obviously took my suggestion of 'cute' literally. It's wearing cheese on it's head & look at it's tiny little bear minion! It's just insanely adorable!

The other winning idea was a 'Head Hunter'. I decided to snag that too! It's a pretty mental custom.

I really love the bone through it's nose, beautifully executed in my opinion. I also love the colours(which my photos really don't do justice to) & the fact it's cooking itself!

When I saw this monstrous custom 8' Dunny zombie, I thought to myself 'Fuck it, why not add one more to your order!'(of course, being me, I DIDN'T stop there & you can read about the absolutely LAST additions to my order on my A Clockwork Orange Collector blog). I really love the details on this one. The little severed arm, the dismembered limbs, the exposed brain. It's just all happening with this freak!

You may notice in the pics, there's an axe that needs to be re-attached to the back, I'll get around to that the next time I feel I'm having a 'steady-hands' day(it was removed to ensure safe travel on it's way to me)!

Bas also threw in his epic take on King Kong that he strung together for ToyConUK back in 2014. Honestly a pretty mind-blowing custom 7' Munny. I'm quite happy to add it to my collection!

These toys are brilliant! I'm glad I'm able to lay claim to such a huge selection of customs from Bash Projects.
I'm unsure if Bas is still making customs, but you can find him on facebook & inquire if you love his work!

Handsome Studio - TTL (Cute Snout)

Back in October last year Handsome Studio shared something new. TTL(Cute Snout), an adorably phallic, cat/peach critter(you can read about the original prototype on The Toy Chronicle). From my understanding, the design wasn't intended to be suggestive.

In Handsome Studio's own words:

The TTL(Cute Snout) is a combination of the cat’s snout and peach.
I am always with a cat.
The cutest part of a cat is a snout.
As a child, peaches were expensive and could not be eaten.
Now the most precious thing to me and the lack of childhood are purely harmonious

However, I instantly saw it's inappropriate nature & it will always be a cute penis to me!

This little cutie is my first resin toy of the year & for something only 2.5 inches long, it's a beautifully rendered little thing! Handsome Studio obviously has some incredible skill working with resin. Not a air bubble in sight & sanded down to a perfectly smooth surface!
The Cute Snout is also beautifully painted. Shades of pink with a hint of sparkle. Generally I'm not a big fan of glittery paints, but this toys shine is so subtle I find it quite appealing.

This was actually one of my first purchases of the year, but it was missing some decals for it's eyes/whiskers/anus that were meant to come with it. Those arrived a couple of days ago.
I considered applying the decals before taking my photos, I hesitated however. I don't have the steady hand of a seasoned artist & I'm concerned my applications will make my Cute Snout appear a bit cockeyed(Hehehehe see what I did there?).

Besides the decals, this toy came with lots of fun little extras! Postcards & product cards, stickers & a awesome 2 inch badge! I really love the Cute Snout art on all the extras. That is one adorable little character!

The product card reads:

- Just a combination of a cat's snout and peach. But somehow sexual and cute?! -

TTL(Cute Snout) has been made in an endless array of colours(Handsome Studio is also working on more 'TTL World' designs!). I settled on the original, but I'm still super eager to gain some more! The clear versions & the white splattered(semen splattered?) version are probably my next Cute Snout goals!

TTL(Cute Snout) is still available to purchase, you can find them on etsy & ebay

Lora Zombie x Eyes On Walls - Unicorn Kiss

When I first saw these making the rounds on social media, I was super excited. I'm a big fan of unicorns & these are adorable. I had a few purchasing struggles, but in the end I managed to snag one.

To pre-warn you, I will most likely use this in all future blog posts that include a unicorn :P

Lora Zombie does a great deal of unicorn art, but I believe this is her first foray into the realm art toys. 'Unicorn Kiss' really has the perfect design to incorporate into a toy. It's cute, it stands well on it's four little stumpy legs & well, it's a unicorn! The packaging art is super cute as well! It was produced by Mighty Jaxx & sold exclusively through Eyes On Walls. There were 4 different colours available. I bought the black version.

Tragically, I'm not really overwhelmed by the quality of this piece. For a Mighty Jaxx produced toy & for $25 USD(& $19.95 USD shipping!), I expected better. I could swear the tail seems a little different from the rest, darker, or shinier or something. Additionally there was tiny scraps of vinyl packaged in with the toy(perhaps from the vinyl trimming process?). A small piece left a tiny dent in one of the unicorns cheeks & it's been left with a overall unclean appearance. I'm not hugely fussy about toys, but I put a lot of effort into acquiring this one & it's left my enthusiasm a little dampened.

On a lighter note, it's a great addition to my collection of unicorn toys! After all, one can never have too many & the black is a fantastic contrast to the rest!

It really is a pretty adorable toy & It's a pretty impressive piece, standing at 5inches tall. I'm still happy I bought one! Even if it's not quite the quality I expected, this is a rather nice addition to my collection.

You can find Zora Zombie on facebook, instagram, twitter or check out her website.

You can also find her & multiple other artists on Eyes On Walls facebook, twitter, instagram & their website.

The Shining - Pattern - Be@rbrick

I'm not the biggest fan of Be@rbricks, but I couldn't pass on this one! As Stanley Kubrick & Stephen King are two of my major cultural focuses in life, this was a completely necessary addition to my collection!

Series 33 - 'Pattern' Be@rbick - The Shining

The moment I saw this(I saw a pic on facebook somewhere) I went hunting on ebay. Snagged one for under $8USD(with free shipping. Woo!). I'm hoping one day they'll do the blue carpet from Kubricks vision of the story as well. That would make a awesome pairing with this little guy!

Medicom have been releasing some fantastic Be@rbrick designs lately. There's a new 2001: A Space Odyssey one I need to get my hands on as well. I'm basically obligated to expand my Be@rbrick collection at this point, but it's well worth it!

PITT - Veneno Toys

My latest new arrival, PITT from Veneno Toys. This cute little fellow was created by Chucho Rojas. 3.5inches tall & made of vinyl, along with his little fabric undies! The underwear is available with three different stitching colours, orange, green & grey. I went with grey.
I love the packaging for this toy(I really should have taken more photos). The box basically reacreated PITT in box-form. It's a nice little detail.

I've always felt, that toys wearing underpants are pretty damn awesome. This toy reinforces that idea! Those are some completely adorable tighty whities!

He also has an cutesy little hair-lick happening!

But the thing about this toy that won me over in the end, are the tiny little genitals hiding under those panties! And yes, I have issues :P

Quite a fun little toy & not expensive either! I'm glad I finally have one(with a little help form the owner of Veneno Toys!).
You can find more info about PITT on the PITT Vinyl Toy Facebook page, or check out Venenos Facebook page, or just go straight to Kichink & order one!

Pugzilla - Thirsty

My first toy of the year. Pugzilla! King of the monsters!
I became aware of these when Obsessed Panda shared a pic on facebook of a box of blanks he'd received to customise. I instantly coveted this toy! I've been stalking the Thirsty facebook page ever since. Being the obsessive type I am, I've also commented on every photo I've seen of Pugzilla, as a result I got a PM from the creator & a week later I have myself some epic vinyl goodness! I'm so happy I managed to score one!

My first vinyl of the year & a great piece! It's about 3.75inches tall & I think it was the last one in this colourway. This is a really crazy little critter! It's only downfall is that it's a little unstable on it's feet. Hardly a rare problem with toys, particularly smaller designs.

I really love the details on this sculpt. The little stitches around the grotesque & excessive wounds. The clawed paws & the aggressive facial expression. This is one angry little pooch!
I had the choice between a few different versions(& too be honest, I fully intend to acquire more in the future!), but the red details in the paintwork on this one really gripped me.

I think this crazy little pug is a really fun little toy, couldn't recommend it more!

Thirsty is always sending out blanks for customisation & working on new pieces themselves. You can find them on facebook & Instagram if you want to see more of their work, or maybe buy one for yourself!
