Kappa - Stegoforest - Jesse Narens

More vinyl! Yay! This weird little cutie is called 'Kappa' by Jesse Narens. Part of his 'Stegoforest' series. This sculpt was first teased about 3 years ago(or at least that's when I first became aware of it), originally named 'Mossy Kappa'. I instantly wanted it! Luckily I saw a blog post from SpankyStokes a couple of weeks ago about the first release & I managed to snag the very last one! There was 4 or 5 different colours for the first release(I think), I got a red one!

Yokai demons are pretty common to see in the toy realm & Kappas are a pretty popular choice. Generally I find it all a bit redundant, but this little guy is the exception to my rule apparently. I couldn't look past it's cute little feet & tail, it's hooked beak & the general creepy cuteness of it.

These were produced by Science Patrol, the same milky red vinyl used for my Mastodon Tank I think. About 3.75inches long & 1.75inches tall. It's articulated at the neck & very well balanced thanks to it's four feet.

I'm so glad I learned about this released before they sold out. Though I'm sure there will be more Kappas in the future, I'm particularly fond of red. Jesse Narens 'stegoforest' creatures are wonderful & I'm excited to see what other strange things he creates in the future.

FuKu Bear ( Blank Pink ) & ( Blank Yellow ) - Don't Cry In The Morning

How cute are these? Don't Cry In The Morning recently dived into the realm of vinyl & the moment I saw the FuKu bear, I basically stalked their social media until an online release happened! DCITM are an avid user of bright colours & these bears are no exception! As you can see, I couldn't decide which colour I liked best, so I bought both!

I think these bears are totally weird! Bulgy eyes & fortune cookie heads? Who comes up with that? The combination of cute & weird is greatly appealing to me!

The Fuku Bears were one of two toys that were part of DCITM first vinyl release. The 'Kaiju YaKu' was also available in two colours(they have both sold out already). Honestly, I was quite tempted by the kaiju as well, but my money supply was limited & the FuKu Bears were my priority!

I really love these toys! They bring a bit of colour my shelves, which is always nice! They're about 4.5 inches(12cm) tall, surprisingly well balance(I had them standing on my coffee table, which I then walked into & they stayed standing!). They also have cute little tails & I love that their hands are smooth, almost like they're gloved! Honestly a very well thought out toy! They are also only HK$220(about $30 USD) each, which is a bargain!

Both the pink & yellow blank FuKu Bears are limited to 50 each. There's still some available, so grab them while you can! I'm excited to see what other colours are produced in the future! Though really, I just think I'm excited to have more sofubi in my life! On a roll this year!

You can find Don't Cry In The Morning on facebook & instagram, or pop over to their site & buy yourself one of their first FuKu Bear releases!

Pugzilla - Thirsty

My first toy of the year. Pugzilla! King of the monsters!
I became aware of these when Obsessed Panda shared a pic on facebook of a box of blanks he'd received to customise. I instantly coveted this toy! I've been stalking the Thirsty facebook page ever since. Being the obsessive type I am, I've also commented on every photo I've seen of Pugzilla, as a result I got a PM from the creator & a week later I have myself some epic vinyl goodness! I'm so happy I managed to score one!

My first vinyl of the year & a great piece! It's about 3.75inches tall & I think it was the last one in this colourway. This is a really crazy little critter! It's only downfall is that it's a little unstable on it's feet. Hardly a rare problem with toys, particularly smaller designs.

I really love the details on this sculpt. The little stitches around the grotesque & excessive wounds. The clawed paws & the aggressive facial expression. This is one angry little pooch!
I had the choice between a few different versions(& too be honest, I fully intend to acquire more in the future!), but the red details in the paintwork on this one really gripped me.

I think this crazy little pug is a really fun little toy, couldn't recommend it more!

Thirsty is always sending out blanks for customisation & working on new pieces themselves. You can find them on facebook & Instagram if you want to see more of their work, or maybe buy one for yourself!

'Milky Red' Mastodon Tank - Science Patrol

After Soft Vinyl Mayhem 2 I felt a great need for more vinyl toys in my life! I've longed for a tank toy for quite some time. Science Patrol sent over a few pieces at the SVM2 show, including a blue sparkly 'Mastodon Tank'. I'm not into glittery stuff however, so I thought I'd check out what they had online!
Thankfully it would seem that Science Patrol keep a random selection of Mastodon Tanks in stock! There was a 'milky red' one available, I had to have it! Definitely seemed like the toy I needed to satiate my need for more vinyl & a tank toy!

Photo snagged from Science Patrols store.

The wait for this toy nearly killed me, but it finally arrived today! Tasty sofubi goodness!

These tanks are inspired by the Metal Slug series. I haven't seen the series myself, this toy appealed to me simply because of it's chibi-tank nature! I like a good contrast of violence & cute in my life. I couldn't be happier with this addition! It's cute, it's bright & it's my very first tank toy!

I can't wait to add more toys from Science Patrol to my collection! Definitely worth checking out & maybe picking up something yourself!
You can find Science Patrol on storenvy, twitter & Instagram.

Yaghan People - GEEK! - Medicom Toy Exclusive

When it comes to the Japanese toys I acquire, it's usually an instant 'I NEED to own this!' moment. Yaghan People by GEEK! was definitely one of those times.
I'm not sure if I've ever mentioned this before, but one of my numerous interests, is history/culture/humanity. The Yaghan People toys(there's two more being released from my understanding) were inspired by a South American group of people called 'Yaghan People'(also possibly, based on my readings, that they've mistaken Selknam People for Yaghan People). They truly are a fascinating culture, perfect inspiration for a toy. So anyway, to acquire this toy I had to sign up for a lottery through Medicom. I have never signed up for a toy lottery before, so I was incredibly pleased when I got my e-mail stating my name had been pulled.

For it's price(about $110US) it's a huge size, about 12inches. They are also hand-painted. Being an art lover, I can definitely appreciate that aspect. The header card is awesome, printed with the original photo that inspired the toy.

There was also a small photo-sized print of the 'inspiration' image included with the toy. Really a wonderful little addition & quite unexpected.
This is a toy that will look epic amongst my randomness(as the following photo expresses!). Can't wait to get my new desk & give it a semi-permanent display spot. Definitely one of my favourite toys of the year. So happy I had the opportunity to buy one.

Now, just a pre-warning. I have a handful of toys I'm waiting on & I'll be buying one or two more this week. However, due to christmas & a rather large purchase I'm saving for(I may have mentioned it in my previous post?), I'll be spending what little cash I have in the next few weeks on gift shopping & saving what I can for my 'large purchase'. I will of course occasionally blog about new items I'm coveting, but new toy arrivals may be a little slow in the next couple of months.

Micro 'My Little Unicron' & Cupcake Plane Kit - Rampage Toys

Received another order from Rampage Toys today. Always an exciting way to wake-up. Ordered myself one of their Micro 'My Little Unicorn' toys in yellow vinyl. It's adorable, I hope to buy more of them when more colours are released in the future. I also managed to pick up one of the last Cupcake Plane model kits. I'm pretty sure I'm gonna leave it unpainted, mostly because my 'small detail' painting skills are quite lacking & I wouldn't want to destroy something so awesome. It has a basic nail to use for it's stand. That aspect amuses me greatly, one simply can't go wrong with something so tiny & ridiculous. Rampage Toys Cupcake Planes are also pretty awesome due to the fact they're made up of three pieces. Magnets keep the cupcake & plane blades in place. So cute & simple, I'm actually considering buying a few other colours just for the novelty aspect.

Rampage Toys have also released their Halloween selection:

- Splatterhouse GID Kyuuketsushi
- 'Tricks and Treats' Bobby and Harry set
- X-Ray Kowaillas(5 varieties)
- Orange/Black marbled vinyl Ugly Unicorns

Absolutely fantastic group of toys. I'm seriously considering buying one or two of the 'X-Ray Kowaillas' & generally, I'm not a big fan of that sculpt. Yet here I sit, contemplating an exception. I'm a huge fan of skeleton toys & orange/black, so Halloween is a great time for me & toys, assuming I have the money to spend. In this case, I may have to wait. Maybe I'll be lucky & there will be a couple still available next week.

So many new toys from Rampage lately, I'm in awe over their creativity(& motivation). Hopefully I'll acquire more in the near future. However, I'm currently saving for a rather large toy/art purchase, so my flow of purchases might be a little low for a while. All worth it though, to own the things one truly wants, sacrifices must be made now & then. I will blog about a couple I've had to say 'no' to recently to afford other, higher priority toys.
