Graffiti Anatomy - Creo Design

Just a quick post about an upcoming toy release. Creo Design has outdone himself again, another truly amazing piece of work! Graffiti Anatomy, his latest mind-blowing creation, is simply awe inspiring.

"Forget about Grey's Anatomy, Creo brings to life a concept born from streets. For years graffiti artist have been producing mind-blowing murals and canvas using their preferred spray can as an extension of their own body. Every artist has his or her own preferred choice of 'can' but have you ever wondered what is hidden beneath the cold aluminium case?

Manufactures insist that you should never pierce or dismantle the can regardless if it is empty or not. Wise words indeed because when Creo's curiosity took over and he opened his last empty spray can he couldn't believe what he discovered inside.

Beneath the cold aluminium 'skin' lies a full spinal cord and skull 'cap'.

It is true what has been said for years that spray cans are living objects brought to life in an artists hands. The myths of steel ball bearings used to mix the paint are bogus - when you shake the can it is the vertebrae knocking together that makes the can rattle, wakening the can to life and producing the beautiful flow of paint."

I cannot believe the detail in this sculpture. I've been watching the creation process for months on Creo Designs Facebook page, the anticipation had been gnawing at me, I'm now just praying I actually get the opportunity to own one! Due for release on the 22nd of Jan, at 9pm GMT. Good luck to everyone!

GID Sugar Skull Tooth Decay‏ - Creo Design - Clutter Magazine 'Gift Wrapped' Exhibition

A wonderful new creation from Creo Design. A custom Glow in the dark Tooth Decay, made exclusively for Clutter Magazine's 'Gift Wrapped' exhibition. A incredibly detailed piece of art, hand carved and painted to resemble a yellow plaque stained Tooth.

It looks incredible when it's glowing! I'm generally not a big fan of GID toys, or sugar skull items, but this is an exception. It looks amazing.

Head down to the Clutter Gallery between 14th December - 6th January 2014, to grab yourself this one of a kind Glow in the Dark Sugar Skull Tooth Decay. It will be on sale for $250. Tragically, beyond my reach & my price range right now. I hope this unique piece of art finds itself a good home.

Gloss-Black & Gloss-White QiQi - Ziqi x Creo Design

Thanks to my persistence(perhaps a better word is 'harassment'?) I have two new toys I'm very proud to own. Due to my insane obsession with Creo Design & Ziqi(monster Little) I took it upon myself to see if I could hunt down more versions of QiQi. Searching through photos I learned there was at least two more versions(I already owned 3). So I contacted Creo Design(I had been communicating... or harassing Chris since he made Tooth Decay) asking if he was able to source my sought-for QiQi's. Chris suggested I contact Ziqi directly. I'm a little nervous about contacting new people, but the search for epic cuteness pushed me to write to them.
I was in luck, Ziqi thought they may have one or two hiding around. Happy to say, they managed to find two blanks for me, one gloss-black & one gloss-white.

I didn't even know a blank-black version existed, so think of my joy from this news! Two more QiQi for my 'army of cute'. Still one more QiQi to hunt for, the black & silver version. One day my army shall be complete!
The black one is beautiful, can't explain it, but there's something about the texture of the toy that just makes it shine is a unique way. The white one is almost pearlescent, very unexpected. They look beautiful next to each other, hopefully I'll have a little display tank for them soon.

So happy to have made a new artist friend & about successfully acquiring new 'cute' for my shelves. I'm simply loving Facebook lately, helping me meet new, artistically inclined, people. It helps motivate & inspire me & gives me like-minded people to communicate with.

A side note on 'shelves'. Only another week or two until I'll have my new desk. I will share photos once it's all set up. I'm hoping to dedicate at least two shelves to toys over time, but we'll see how things go. The QiQi army however, will most definitely be making it onto my new shelves!

Slumber x Creo Design - SlumberBean

Just heard about a fantastic upcoming toy release. A collaboration between Slumber & Creo Design, the SlumberBean 'Flavour Friends' are absolutely adorable in my opinion. Cast from Creo Design's unique PU resin, they are 5inches tall & limited to 20 per colour. The first edition 'Original Flavour'(red) will be released on Friday 01.11.2013 at mid day GMT from http://www.slumberbean.com for £30 Excluding shipping.

SlumberBean was originally created by illustrator Sam Hadley, also known as Slumber in 2010.
The Slumberbean already stars in a series of illustrated prints but now he's ready to snooze around your home in a new limited series of Art Figures called 'Flavour Friends'. SlumberBean features in the Pictoplasma Character Compendium, and has been exhibited in Bristol, Berlin and Madrid.

I really hope I manage to get one of these, I adore Creo's hand crafts/cast/painted items, would be simply wonderful to add another to my collection. Also, I just adore shelf-sitting toys & had been planning to acquire some, now I have a wonderful excuse to do so!

Black Gloss QiQi - Ziqi x Creo Designs

Finally got my black gloss QiQi, like the other two, designed by Ziqi & produced by Creo Design. Probably lucky I even found one to buy I suppose, but it took a long time to arrive, I was mildly concerned for a while there. But beyond that, the little critter arrived & now I have all three.

I can't get over how cute QiQi is. Not my usual choice of toy, but sometimes cuteness wins me over. There's still a black & silver version out there I'd like to hunt down, and a couple of variations, only time will tell if I'll ever acquire them. For now I'm quite happy with my little set of cuteness.

Additional though, Ziqi now have a society6 store, all his cute designs, available as prints, or phone covers, or my personal favourite, pillow cases. There's nothing better then uber cuteness, on a pudgy puffy cushion. You should all go visit his store & but everything! I'm hoping to buy a pillow or two in the near future, they will bring some much needed 'cute' to my home.

Tooth Decay - Creo Design - Gloss White

I recently blogged about Creo Designs latest creation 'Tooth Decay' & my concerns that I would never own one. As luck would have it, I did get one(limited to 9). Mine arrived this morning(thank you Mr. UPS man) & I think it's officially my new favourite art figure.
I love that Chris Alexander took the time to stencil the boxes he shipped the figures in. He also produced little Certificates of authenticity for these series. Mine is 7 of 9, for anyone who was interested.

It's a truly stunning piece, so much prettier in real life, then in my photos. It stands at 7inches & it truly shows it's size, it's surprisingly heavy. Buyers had a huge selection of colours to choose from, I settled on gloss white with a black tooth. Quite happy with my colour choices, it'll make a beautiful statement piece when I get my new desk to display it on. For now, it sits with my horror toys on my bookshelf glaring at me for a more central display location.

I think I may have become a little Creo-obsessed. I hope everyone is incredibly jealous of my latest acquistion & expect more Creo Designs toys to be added to my collection in the near future. Tragically, I have a new monetary obligations over the next few weeks, so my toy purchases will be greatly diminished for a while.

Red QiQi - Ziqi x Creo Design

During my recent toy shopping binge, I decided to acquire a couple of toys from Creo Designs. As much as I love punk, gore, horror, surrealism etc. in the toys I buy, I'm also attracted to, what I can only describe as 'sickeningly cute' toys. As a result, I simply couldn't say no to the Ziqi x Creo Design toy collaboration, QiQi.

I got both of the red versions(tragically the black one was sold out, I'm planning to hunt for one on eBay soon). Original Red, limited to 450pc & the Gloss Red, limited to 200pc. They're only 3inches tall & absolutely adorable with their oversized heads. There's still a few available(on sale) in the Creo Design store. Very low price for something so limited & mine arrived within 6days of making the order(crazy fast shipping).

It's always great to pick up something so cute for my collection. Hopefully I'll have somewhere appropriate to display them soon. I really need to stop buying toys & maybe buy a few new pieces of furniture. The endless space restriction of the collector. First-world problems are such an annoyance. Of course, even with my space issues, I'm sitting here considering future purchases from the Creo Design store. I recommend checking it out. It's full of cuteness & sometimes, something a little creepy(as the Tooth Decay piece I blogged about recently would suggest). Definitely my kind of toys.
